SHIGA
A style of garden that features a path around a pond. The pond water uses the "shiori" system, linked to the height of the water in Lake Biwa and so causing the position of the banks to change at different times. This is the only garden using this system with freshwater in Japan. The scenery, comprised of sandbanks and manmade hills, represents a mentality of balance with water.
