Guesthouse En is located in a small settlement a little distance from the center of Omihachiman, allowing you to enjoy lodging in a real Japanese countryside. While there are no famous tourist spots to be found here, the spreading rural scenery in the vicinity provides a quiet and warm atmosphere.
The area is also often visited by many people completing the so-called “Biwa-ichi” route through the bountiful nature around the largest lake in Japan, Lake Biwa. The lake is only 1km away from the guesthouse, meaning you can also take a leisurely stroll down to its shores.
The historical townscapes and Hachiman-bori canals of the castle town spreading at the foot of Mount Hachiman can also be reached in just 20 minutes with a bicycle.
This guesthouse is an old private residence that has stood for more than 100 years, now renovated with modern plumbing in order to allow for a comfortable stay. In order to allow guests to relax and fully enjoy their time here, only one reservation is accepted per day.
This allows you to enjoy it privately, like your own holiday villa, making it also recommended for families and groups. A maximum of seven people can stay here.
The staff can speak English, meaning you’ve nothing to worry about from planning your trip all the way through to your stay. Although you’ll find some of the conveniences of modern life stripped away, those who want to relax away from the big city or experience the true Japan - indeed, to find their own unique Japan - need only book a stay at the Guesthouse En!
