Saimyoji Temple

The main temple at Saimyoji Temple is one of the three Koto Sanzan temples of the Tendai Sect. Erected near the beginning of the Kamakura period (1192 to 1333), it is a pure Japanese-style construction that doesn't use a single nail. A wonderfully well preserved example of the Kamakura style, it is a designated National Treasure.
