An extension of the Furyu Dance that was popular in the Kinki region during the Muromachi Period, this dance is now mainly performed along the banks of Lake Biwa in Kusatsu City. Prayers are dedicated to show respect to the water so valued by the area, asking for protection for the crops that the blessings of the waters provide, to eliminate sickness and disasters, and to provide a bountiful harvest.
