Sotoen

The Sotoen climbing kiln, making Shigaraki-yaki ceramics, is one of the largest in Japan, and continues to run at maximum output. Created from a total of 11 chambers, it is 30m long, 15m wide and 3.5m high. This massive kiln is still put regularly through its paces. There’s also a pottery making experience held three times a day. (A prior reservation is required. It will also take 1-2 months for finished pieces to be delivered). Please feel free to inquire about making purchases, the pottery classroom, a tour of the facilities, or with any other questions.
