Hyakusaiji Temple is the oldest temple in Omi. It's a very popular spot that receives many visitors from across Japan as one of the three mountains of Koto, a famous spot for fall leaves!

Pass through the red gate at the entrance and a stone path leads away toward the main temple.
The crimson leaves along the route will take your breath away!

The mossy stone wall alongside the path also speaks to the depth of history in this place.

There is also a famous garden known as the "Lookout Across The World Garden" to be found along the path, which is perhaps the best place to see the fabulous leaves in all their glory. Their reflection in the lake is simply stunning!

Continue further along the path and you will come to the Nitenmon gate that is often used for filming movies.

Touching the large straw sandals hanging down from the front has long been said to provide physical health, resistance to illness and long life!
