Lying at the foot of Mt. Hiei, you can find a town called Sakamoto, where a lot of Buddhist priests reside. We went down the mountain with the cable car, where we reached some streets that were lined with neat rows of stores and houses.
We just exited Enryakuji. From there on we are going down the mountain.
During our walk the most wonderful views came to our sight.
Blues sky, white clouds, and of course Lake Biwa!
We could check the surroundings using the binoculars.
Arrival at the cable car station.
The cable car's ticket. It is a good fortune and happiness charm that is quite popular.
Let's get in the train. Sakamoto is known to be Japan's longest.
In front of us, the cable car going up.
We could take another magnificent panoramic view of Lake Biwa.
We arrived downhill.

Sakamoto's cable car station. It was designated as a cultural heritage.
The inside of the station.
The cable car we used is climbing up the mountain again. The station employee sends it off.
After going out of the station, we took a walk in Sakamoto.
At the horizon, the view of Lake Biwa is spreading.
The Autumn leafs' color is at its best. It is really beautiful.
A lot of Buddhist priests are living in Sakamoto. You can meet with some from time to time.
We turn back towards Mt. Hiei. To climb up from here looks like a lot of fun too.
