  1. The historic town of Kinomoto/Delicious Duck Nabe Dinner

    Kinomoto is an old town filled with old houses, small shops selling traditional Japanese wares, and a beautiful temple. We were also fortunate to experience eating a delicious duck nabe dinner in the city of Nagahama.

  2. Nature and Beauty of Kohoku Wild Bird Center

    The Kohoku Wild Bird Center is located in a perfect spot close to Lake Biwa, allowing for a great view of many beautiful birds native to the area.

  3. Skiing within view of Lake Biwa -Biwako Valley-

    We went skiing at Biwako Valley. Biwako Valley is a fantastic ski area commanding a great view of Biwako. There is no better place to enjoy skiing in Shiga.

  4. Enjoy traditional Japanese culture at a sake brewery and a historic house in Otsu City.

    Learn about the old art of making sake at the Hirai Shoten sake brewery including a tasting of their delicious sake selection followed by a trip back in time to the Meiji Era at the Hyakuchokan house.

  5. The beauty of Nagahama

    Nagahama is a beautiful and historical town located just an hour from Kyoto in the outskirts of Shiga. Filled with amazing shops and people, you can find lovely glassware, accessories and food. The cozy atmosphere of Nagahama offers a traditional taste of authentic Japanese culture.

  6. Otsu Matsuri -Parade of the Hikiyamas-

    13 magnificent Hikiyamas parading through the streets in Otsu offer you the cultural richness of Japan through ingenious puppeteering, traditional music and tapestries classified as cultural inheritage. We were granted the honor to participate to the assembling of one of the 13 Hikiyamas called Gekkyudenzan.

  7. Omihachiman Culture & Craft Tour

    Spend a day exploring Omihachiman’s hidden treasures: a historical merchant village; several craft/ art museums; canal and cable car rides; and traditional lantern festival.

  8. Becoming Superman!! – Zip-lining at Biwako Valley

    Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
    No, it’s just us having fun on Zip-lines at Biwako Valley.
    There you can enjoy zip-lining in summer and snow sports in winter.
    Both with unique views of Lake Biwa.

  9. A splendid summer day Wakeboarding at the Biwako Lake

    When it comes to enjoying summer holidays, there is nothing better than giving yourself the best treat by taking yourself away from the scorching heat of summers in metros to somewhere really cool and pleasant where you can fill your day with excitement. Lake Biwako is a paradise for lovers of nature and recreation. Beautiful and glorious as it sounds like, it is definitely the perfect pick if you want to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature while soaking up the good life of adventurous activities.

  10. The biggest fireworks festival I had experienced in Kansai, Japan

    There are fireworks here and there every year when the summer come.
    So, well dressed with Japanese traditional costume, yukata and of course our camera
    heading to this exciting festival.
