Kinomoto is an old town filled with old houses, small shops selling traditional Japanese wares, and a beautiful temple. We were also fortunate to experience eating a delicious duck nabe dinner in the city of Nagahama.
We took the train to Kinomoto station.
We stopped in an old home that has been producing “daikou shoyu” soy sauce for many years.
We also stopped in the Tomita-syuzou shop that makes traditional sake.
We were able to taste the various kinds of sake. Kanpai! (Yamagi-syuzou)
We walke along the old street, past old shos with the old signs hanging outside.
We met “Mitsunari-kun” along the way.
After that, we stopped in a small bakery called Tsuruya, where we enjoyed “Sarada-pan”- bread with Japanese pickles inside. It was delicious!
We went to an old temple, which has a famous statue of “Jizo”
We enjoyed the garden behind the temple, which looked so beautiful with the snow!
We wrote our favorite kanji at the temple.
We went to Nagahama for dinner. We ate at a restaurant called Narikoma-ya, for our delicious Duck Nabe dinner.
Our food before cooking it in the pot!
The restaurant “okaasan” helped cook our dinner.
All of the duck and vegetables went into the pot. It looks delicious!
Our “Duck Nabe” dinner set…what a beautiful presentation!
It was a delicious meal! Thank for a fun day exploring Shiga Prefecture!
